Whitney Museum of American Art
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
This classroom activity is exploring East Asian art and how the art of making scrolls is important to its culture. Chinese culture has always held a deep respect for calligraphy and painting. In this activity the students will be painting their scrolls in a decorative fashion and will be including the image of a carp. I chose this activity because it is important to include multiple cultures and artistic styles.
National Gallery of Art
This lesson plan is my favorite that I have found so far. I love how this lesson includes art history, mythology, and multiple mediums of art. This project begins with the students telling you what they think is happening in the painting, then you will give them a background of the painting and the mythology related to it. After they have a good understanding of Pandora's box then the will create their own.
Philadelphia Museum of Art
In this lesson plan the students will be creating their own creatures based on an environment they imagine from a work of art. First the students will be presented with an image and asked to imagine the environment of the image. The next step is the students will then create a creature based on the environment they described. I lke this lesson because it involves critical and creative thinking and helps build problem solving skills.
